I don't believe in Ford, the company, the product, or the people who are supposedly there to stand behind the product. ![]() So we're going to the small town mechanic and hopefully they can fix it. I can't afford to throw money at Ford so they can apply the KISS method when I know what's wrong. When I called the actual Ford company, they told me that my care doesn't qualify for the recall 14S05 "Steering Torque Sensor." They suggested that I take it into my local dealership, pay for the full diagnostics and repair, keep my receipts and pray that my VIN eventually falls under a recall. Now I'm dealing with "Power Steering Assist Fault." My power steering is gone and the wheel is locked up. Took some researching and we replaced the brake pads, rotors and master cylinder. Sometimes it worked well and other times I could stomp on the pedal with little to no stopping. After that, my brake pedal went "soft" AKA FAILED while driving. I took it to a small mechanic who upon checking the suspected issue, found total clogs. They informed me that they couldn't just check what I thought was wrong and would charge me to start from square one until they discovered the problem. I had done my research and knew what the problem was. No recall and when I spoke with Ford, they said that they would have to run a full diagnostic on it to know what the problem is. I have since replaced the entire air conditioning system because of the filter bag inside the AC dryer burst causing a total clog of parts. However, in 2014, we started having issues that are not everyday maintenance. It's been so much fun driving it and done countless moves with it and we're always impressed with how much it can store. The controls and gadgets are aesthetically pleasing and well thought out. Other times when I’m idle somewhere it would be the oil light. The only problems are the check tire pressure sensor fault and the pressure is just fine. Just a few minor things but other than that is great. Loved the interior space, the way the rear seats fold total flat with no gaps between the fold when seats are down against the front seats. 200,626 on my 2010 Ford Escape xlt v6 and it’s still going strong. A poor power steering pump, broken power steering hose, and a faulty torque sensor are some of the 2010 Ford Escape power steering issues that have been reported by consumers. UPDATE: AC is broken AGAIN! I keep getting it fixed and it keeps going out. Overall if you can find a clean, maintained one and need something cheap pick one up. It's right in the front of engine high behind the radiator, up high, 4 bolts no bending or crawling under the car to access. You'll need an OBDII reader and search You Tube for a video on how to replace it. if you are at all handy and know a little about cars you can fix it yourself. The only recurring issue is the throttle body goes bad. Everything still works radio, Sync, AC, lights, runs well and I averaged 23mpg over the life of the car. At this point this car would probably make a great 1st car for a kid or basic transportation for someone on a budget. I bought it because I am a cyclist and I can easily put bikes, even recumbents, inside which is better when I travel out of state for cycling vacations. Small enough it's super easy to park, yet it is as you would guess a box on wheels so can hold either 4 adults comfortably or haul large items. It look like a little truck, but it really is just a car, which is good for MPG and handling. It is not fancy, but it's been a reliable, good looking, little crossover. I bought a 2010 Escape XLT 4-cylinder, front drive way back in 2012, it was a lease return like new, then with only 24K miles.
